Existing Parks
Currently the park system consists of six parks, three park sites, one public pool and one civic center. The park system includes Carlon, Wixson, Palm, Legion, Sunrise, Trolley Station and Playland Riverside Parks, and Volunteer Park and McGonagle Park sites. An inventory of acreage and development status is shown in Exhibit 5.2. These parks vary in size and type, servicing different population sizes and age groups.
Small neighborhood parks, such as Legion, Palm, and Sunrise Park, are approximately 0.25 to 1 acre in size, and serve small neighborhood areas. Legion and Palm Park are mini-parks located in small residential areas. Few amenities are provided at these sites.
Larger Parks, such as Wixson, Playland Riverside, and Carlon Parks provide picnic grounds, children's playground, restrooms, walking paths, parking lots, and, in the case of Playland Riverside Park, a river viewing deck.
